Submissions

Please submit book pitches via email to submissions@illwilleditions.com in the following format:

In the body of the email: give us the elevator pitch. In under 300 words, how would you describe the project to an interested stranger?

Your email should include two attachments:

Attachment 1: The Proposal.

In a PDF file labeled as “[YourLastName]-Proposal”, please include the following sections:

  1. Book Description. A 3-5 page summary of the book
  2. Table of Contents.
  3. Chapter Descriptions. Describe the contents of each chapter in 300 words or less.
  4. Short bios for all authors and contributors
  5. Why you? Why you wrote the book (or are currently writing it).
  6. Audience. Who your intended audience is and why you think they will buy it.
  7. Marketing. Publicity, promotion, and events that you can organize and execute using your existing relationships and resources. 
  8. Why Ill Will? Why the book is a good fit for Ill Will Editions.
  9. Similar titles. A short description of similar or competing works and what distinguishes your book.
  10. Timeline. When do you plan on completing the manuscript?
  11. Other publishers. If you are submitting the proposal to other publishers, please tell us which ones.

Attachment 2: The Sample

In a Word .doc (or .docx file) labeled “[YourLastName]-Sample”, please include 10-15 pages from the body of your book (i.e., not from the Introduction). 

Our response

We will send you a reply as soon as we read the elevator pitch in the body of your email. If we ask for more time to review the whole proposal, we will give you an estimated timeline for our response.
